Our school is organised into four house groups led by an elected Year 6 pupil. The children are grouped across the age range into Everest (green), Nevis (blue), Fuji (yellow), and Snowdon (red). Children can be awarded house points for any aspect of school life and we announce the winning team every Friday. The Houses compete against each other during Sports’ Day. We have house activities during Family Learning Week and work together on other occasions during the school year.
The School Council at Welford and Wickham consists of a representative from each year group from Year 1 to Year 5 and the house captains in Year 6. The council meets with Mrs Valentine once every two weeks to express views and make decisions. The School Council make decisions about playground games and lunchtime seating arrangements. They are frequently involved with showing visitors around the school. They organise fundraising events for Children in Need and Sports/Comic Relief.
This year, two year six and two year five children are Welford and Wickham’s Worship Team. They prepare the hall for Collective Worship and lead the Achievers' Celebration assembly most weeks, preparing stories to read or act out, as well as updating the Worship Display board in the hall.
We also have two Sports' Captains who support the P.E. teachers, helping to organise equipment and Sporting events. They present weekly sport certificates during Achievers' Celebration assemblies.
