‘Where the children come first’

Windsor Class Years 5&6

Welcome to Windsor!

Welcome to the autumn term in Windsor Class.

Our curriculum offer this term is 'Explorers and Invaders'. We will be Learning about World War II and reading ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ by Emma Carroll. We will develop creative responses to the text through drama, storytelling and artwork and then write diaries and letters in role before planning and recording our own radio broadcast. In the second half of the term we will leave earth and focus on Earth and Space, going on an adventure with the very funny book ‘Cosmic’ by Frank Cottrell-Boyce.

Year 5 & 6 are taught together in Windsor Class. The class teacher is Mrs Kilding. During the week they are also taught by Mrs Phillpot, Mr Waller, Mrs Myers and Mrs Valentine so that they can have specialist subject teaching for art, PE, computing, languages and music. Mrs Miller supports us throughout the week, ensuring that all the children are getting the most from the curriculum.

In Windsor class we take on roles of responsibility as House and Sports captains and as members of the school council. We continue to develop as independent learners and thinkers. We make links across the curriculum and ground our learning in real life situations so that it makes sense to us and is relevant to the way we live now as well as preparing us for the future.
